Understanding job statuses

Job statuses on SkillScoop help keep your projects organised and transparent for both clients and specialists. Here’s what each status means:

Open

An Open job is active and visible to specialists. Can be found  on the “Find a Job” page. It means no specialist has been selected yet, so specialists can browse and send quotes. The job stays open until a client chooses someone to work with.

In Progress

When a client selects a specialist, the job status changes to In Progress. This means the work has officially started. These jobs no longer appear on the “Find a Job” page, and can only be viewed by the client, the chosen specialist, and anyone who submitted a quote.

Completed / Not Completed

Once work is underway, the job can be marked as either Completed or Not Completed, depending on the outcome:

➖ Completed: The specialist has finished the job to the client’s satisfaction. Both the client and the specialist can leave reviews.

➖ Not Completed: Used when the job isn’t finished — whether the specialist didn’t complete the work, both parties agreed to stop, or another reason. You’ll be asked to provide a reason when choosing this status. Both the client and the specialist can still leave reviews.

Who can change the job status?

➖ With Direct Payment, either the client or the specialist can mark the job as completed or not completed.

➖ With Hassle-Free Payment, only the client can change the job status.

Cancelled

A job is marked as Cancelled when the client cancels it before selecting a specialist. Once a specialist is chosen, the job can no longer be cancelled.

Jobs can also be automatically cancelled if no specialist is selected within 30 days of posting — in this case, the job is considered expired.
