Choosing Hassle-Free Payment

When you select Hassle-Free Payment for your job, it will have a Hassle-Free badge. This means:

  • Only verified specialists can apply for your job.
  • You have full control over the job’s payment structure through Milestones.

What Are Milestones?

Milestones give you the option to break your project into smaller, manageable steps. Instead of paying the full amount upfront, you pay as the work progresses — one milestone at a time.

Each milestone includes:

  • A description of the work to be completed
  • A specified price for that phase
  • An optional due date to track progress

Setting Up Milestones

After selecting your specialist, you can create milestones for your job. You can choose either:

  • One Milestone: Pay the full amount in one go, which is held securely until the work is completed.
  • Multiple Milestones: Break the job into smaller phases. As each phase is completed, you release the payment for that milestone.

Example:
If you’re hiring someone to design a website, you might set up milestones like:
Milestone 1 – Homepage design – $300 – Due in 1 week
Milestone 2 – Inner pages – $400 – Due in 2 weeks
Milestone 3 – Final tweaks and handover – $200 – Due in 3 weeks

This makes it easier to follow progress and pay as each phase is completed.

Tip: Before selecting your specialist, take time to go over the milestones together. If you’re planning to break the job into multiple stages, talk about the details, pricing, and deadlines upfront. Clear communication helps everything run smoothly.

Approval Process

Before the specialist starts working, you’ll send the milestones to them for approval. This ensures you’re both aligned on expectations, scope, and payment. Once the specialist approves, you can fund the first milestone.

Editing Milestones

Need to make changes later? No problem. You can edit milestones after approval — but any updates will require the specialist’s approval again before moving forward.

Payment Security

Once a milestone is funded, the payment is securely held in escrow. It won’t be released until you click Release Payment, confirming you’re satisfied with the work.

This ensures:

  • You’re only paying for work that is done as agreed.
  • Your money is protected until the job is done.

Ending the Contract

You can choose to end the contract early at any time, but the specialist must accept the termination.

  • If the specialist accepts, any funded milestone amount will be refunded to you.
  • If the specialist declines, you can try to resolve the issue through the job chat. If that doesn’t help, either party can fill out an Dispute Assistance form to provide evidence for SkillScoop’s support team to review and investigate.

Finalising the Job

Once all milestones are completed and paid, mark the job as Completed and leave a review for your specialist. Your feedback supports the community and helps others hire with confidence.

What Are Milestones?

With Milestones clients have the option to break a project into smaller, manageable steps by creating multiple milestones — or create just one milestone to pay the full price upfront.

Each milestone includes:

  • A description of the work to be completed
  • A specified price for that phase
  • An optional due date to track progress

This makes larger projects easier to manage — and allows you to get paid progressively as you work.

Tip: Always discuss milestones with the client in advance. Agreeing on the structure, pricing, and timelines upfront helps avoid confusion later.

Reviewing and Approving Milestones

Once you are selected for a job, the client will send you the milestones for review. You must review and approve the milestones before starting the work. This ensures:

  • You and the client are aligned on what’s expected
  • The deliverables are clearly outlined
  • Payment terms are agreed upon

Need changes? If something doesn’t look right, discuss it with the client and ask for edits before accepting.

Each time the client makes changes to the milestones, you’ll need to re-approve them before continuing work.

Getting Paid

Once the client funds a milestone, the money is held securely in escrow. After completing the work for that milestone, inform the client via chat so they can release the payment.

You will be notified as soon as the payment is released, and the funds will be processed to your account.

What if the client wants to end the contract early?

In some cases, a client may decide to end the job before all milestones are completed. If this happens:

  • You will receive a contract termination request.
  • You can either accept or decline the request.

If you accept: Any funded milestones will be returned to the client.

If you decline: You can attempt to resolve the issue through chat, or either party can submit an Dispute Assistance form to SkillScoop. Our team will review the case and help find a fair resolution.

After the Job Is Done

Once all milestones are completed and payments are released, the client will mark the job as Completed. At that point, both you and the client will have the opportunity to leave reviews.
